AboutTheSciotoMile

A lot has happened since construction began on the Scioto Mile — and there’s a lot more to come by the time it’s completed in November 2011, just in time for the City’s 2012 Bicentennial celebration.

CDDC hired MSI, a Columbus, Ohio-based landscape architecture firm, as the design professionals for the project and Messer Construction Company to manage the project construction activities. The project sponsors are firmly committed to delivering the project on time, within budget, with high quality, and exemplary safety performance.

The first part of the Scioto Mile project was the creation of North Bank Park, which opened in 2005. Located just west of Downtown, North Bank Park is the northern anchor of  the Scioto Mile. It  connects existing bike and pedestrian paths to the north and south, while also incorporatiing the median between Spring and Long Streets near Neil Avenue.

North Bank Park features boat ramps, an interactive pop-up fountain for children, picnic facilities and a glass-enclosed pavilion overlooking the Downtown skyline.

North Bank Park is the first park developed under the Columbus Riverfront Vision Plan and will serve as inspiration for the Riverfront renovation.
