Getting to Know the Greenways - Tip of the Day
Are you an urban angler, looking for a good spot to fish the newly improved habitat of the Scioto River? We think the point bar on the west bank of the river directly across from North Bank Park is the best place to wet a line within the Scioto Greenways.
A point bar is a natural deposit of the sand, silt, clay, dirt, etc. that is carried within a river and left behind on the inside of a bend. The overarching goal of the project was to return the Scioto River to its natural shape and course within the downtown corridor. The point bar is reflective of this naturalization. Over time, the exposure of the point bar may ebb and flow with the River’s current, but it will always appear *gravelly*, not planted, thus making it a perfect place to cast.
