Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr., an accordionist, organist, singer and songwriter who, under the name Buckwheat Zydeco, championed traditional southwest Louisiana Creole dance music on the world stage, died early Saturday of lung cancer at the age of 68.
Having performed many times on Columbus' downtown riverfront, Buckwheat is pictured here performing at Genoa Park in 2006. He will be deeply missed.
